SOUTH COUNTY CITIES GO ALL IN FOR HARRINGTON DUE TO HOMELESS MESS AND COST OVERRUNS

ORANGE COUNTY – May 15th – Today the Dave Harrington for Sheriff campaign announced the endorsement of nearly 30 current and past South Orange County Mayors and Councilmembers.

The overwhelming support for Harrington stems from frustration with the lack of enforcement that has led to a homeless crisis affecting all Orange County cities as well as rising costs of the Sheriff’s contract, which is increasing at an unsustainable rate.

Harrington is endorsed by the following South County leaders:

Don Wagner, Mayor Irvine
Ed Sachs, Mayor, Mission Viejo
Michael Vaughn, Mayor, Rancho Santa Margarita
Rick Viczorek, Mayor, Dana Point
Tim Brown, Mayor, San Clemente
Kathy Ward, Councilmember San Clemente
Joe Mueller, Mayor Pro Tem., Dana Point
Debra Lewis, Councilmember, Former Mayor Dana Point
Kevin Muldoon, Councilmember, Former Mayor Newport Beach
Janine Heft, Councilmember, Laguna Hills
Don Sedgwick, Councilmember Laguna Hills
Paul Wyatt, Councilmember, Dana Point
Phil Tsunoda, Councilmember, Former Mayor, Aliso Viejo
Bill Phillips, City Councilman, Former Mayor, Aliso Viejo
Steve Dicterow, City Councilman, Laguna Beach
L. Anthony Beall, City Councilmember, Former Mayor, Rancho Santa Margarita
Brad McGirr, City Councilmember, Rancho Santa Margarita
Robert Ming, Former Mayor Laguna Niguel
Barbara Kogerman, City Councilmember, Laguna Hills
Frank Ury, Former Mayor Mission Viejo
John Mark Jennings, City Councilmember, Laguna Niguel
Kerry Ferguson, City Councilmember, San Juan Capistrano
Jerry Slusiewicz, Former Mayor Laguna Niguel
Carol Gamble, Councilmember, Former Mayor, Rancho Santa Margarita
Kathy Schlicht, Former Councilwoman, Mission Viejo
Duffy Duffield, Mayor Newport Beach

“I support Dave Harrington for Sheriff because there are changes in operations to be made to this department that will put boots on the ground but contain runaway budget costs that are a serious concern for all of our cities. It’s time for a change, an informed one. Dave has the knowledge and experience to make the changes we need,” said Kathy Ward, Councilwoman, San Clemente.

Dave responded to the endorsement, “I’m honored to receive the endorsement from so many local electeds and I vow to control reckless spending, work on solutions with our contract partners and to address problems before they become a crisis.”
